Mood & Anxiety Clinic

The Mood & Anxiety Clinic is dedicated to patients with depression and anxiety disorders, which are common mental health conditions in Singapore. Based on local studies, depression affects 6.3% and anxiety disorders affect 4.8% of the adult population. The common risk factors for depression and anxiety include family history, psychological factors, major and stressful life events and chronic medical conditions. Patients' mental well-being is managed from a holistic approach.

We have a standardised assessment and treatment plan in this clinic. Regular discussions with the members of our team help to achieve the best outcomes of our patients.

Geriatric clinic / Old Age Psychiatry

With a rapidly ageing population in Singapore, much attention is paid to dementia prevention and care. Geriatric depression and anxiety are equally important conditions with associated adverse consequences such as poorer quality of life, increased suicide risks and increased disability. Depression is also a known risk factor for subsequent cognitive decline/dementia.

The Geriatric Psychiatry clinic provides specialist assessment and treatment for the elderly with mental health care needs. Supported by a multidisciplinary team including psychologists, occupational therapists, dietitians and social workers, we provide holistic care for the older adult to maintain their well-being in the community and empower them with greater confidence to deal with age-related life changes.

Sleep clinic

A 2014 international survey among 43 cities found Singapore to be third most sleep-deprived. A more recent 2018 survey of 12 countries found Singapore to be the second most sleep-deprived. Singaporeans average 6.5 hours of sleep per night, short of the recommended 7 to 8 hours. Local studies suggest that 30% of Singaporeans suffer from insomnia at some point in their lives, and this is expected to increase as insomnia is associated with advancing age.

The Psychiatry Sleep Clinic is part of the SingHealth Duke-NUS Sleep Centre and specializes in the evaluation and treatment of insomnia and other sleep disorders related to mental health. Together with psychologists and sleep technologists, we provide holistic management of insomnia, including cognitive behavioural therapy, sleep medications, bright light therapy and lifestyle advice to improve sleep.
