Automated Visitor Management System FAQs

In line with MOH's latest guidelines, we have updated our visitor policy to reduce the risk of infection. Click here for the updated visiting policy.

What is the purpose of having an Automated Visitor Management System (AVMS)?

A: The new Automated Visitor Management System is designed for better management of the number of visitors to the wards, allowing for a more convenient and hassle-free visit to the hospital. The system also facilitates contact tracing for the safety of our patients and visitors, when the need arises.

What is the reason for having a visitor policy?

A:  Visiting hours and the number of visitors are limited to ensure that patients whose welfare is our prime concern have adequate rest and to lower the risk of infection from visitors. This is a safety measure taken to keep your loved ones safe.

How will a visitor know if the quota is met or when there is an available visiting slot?

A: If a visitor is unable to access the gantry during the visiting hours, it means that the quota would probably have been met. The visitor will be placed on the visitor waitlist upon scanning his/her identification card at the gantry. An SMS will be sent to the first visitor on the waitlist once a visiting slot is available. Please arrive at the gantry within 10 minutes of receiving the SMS. Otherwise, the slot will be given to the next visitor on the list after 10 minutes.

What are the forms of identification cards that can be used for registration?

A: Visitors may register using their NRIC/FIN, Senior Citizen EZ-link card, Student EZ-link card, and Driving licence. The cards are scanned at the gantry for entry and exit. Visitors with foreign identification (e.g. passport, employment pass, etc.) may approach the visitor registration counter for registration, and issuance of a pass to be scanned at the gantry.

What if a visitor forgets to bring his/her identification card?

A: He/She may approach the registration counter or use the self-registration kiosk to register.

What if the visitor cannot remember the patient details?

A: We are unable to disclose information about the patient due to the Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA). Visitors are encouraged to contact the patient's next-of-kin/family members for the patient's details.

What about visitors to ICU, High Dependency and Isolation wards?

A: As part of our heightened surveillance and to reduce risk of infection, we are limiting the number of visitors to the wards during visiting hours.

I have a family conference with the doctor out of visiting hours. How can I access the wards?

A: You may approach any visitor registration counter for assistance. You should have a letter from the ward verifying such an appointment. However, if this is not available, our staff will assist to verify the appointment by contacting the ward.
