Conditions We Treat

You'll find a multidisciplinary, evidence-based approach to Orthopaedic care at SKH. Our team of surgeons and physicians will tailor a treatment plan that is individualised to you and one that aims to alleviate symptoms and improve your overall quality of life.

Prior to beginning treatment, your doctor will get to know you, your healthcare needs and your treatment goals. You'll learn about your specific therapy or procedure to ensure that you fully understand the treatment, recovery process, limitations or restrictions, and expected outcomes.

While surgery sometimes is the treatment of choice for an Orthopaedic injury or condition, it is rarely the first or only option. The non-exhaustive list of conditions that our specialist team treats are as follows:

 Knee Injuries

Low Back Pain Shoulder & Elbow Injuries Spine and Spinal Disorders

FAQs

What is minimally invasive surgery?

Minimally invasive surgery uses medical instruments and cameras that let doctors see the area being operated on without the need for large incisions. Minimally invasive surgery accomplishes the same treatment goals as traditional open surgery, but typically results in:

  • Less damage to surrounding muscles and tissues.
  • Less blood loss.
  • Shorter hospital stays.
  • Less scarring.
  • Speedier recovery times.

Smaller incisions. What should I expect immediately after surgery?

With just about any Orthopaedic surgical procedure, including joint replacement surgery, you'll have some pain and swelling. Your doctor and clinical team will work with you to effectively manage your pain and ensure you're healing as expected.

How long does it take to recover from Orthopaedic procedures?

Many factors determine how long it will take for you to fully recover and experience the benefits of the procedure. For some patients, recovery takes a few weeks. For others, it can take several months. Depending on your overall health, the condition for which you were treated and the type of surgery performed, you may be able to go home the same day or the day after surgery even if you had total joint replacement surgery.

In most cases, you'll be discharged to your home. In-home nursing care or outpatient physical therapy will maximise the benefits of your surgery. Talk to your Orthopaedic Surgeon to learn more about what your individual recovery plan may look like.

Our Care Team

Many of our Orthopaedic surgeons have advanced their education with overseas fellowship training in their chosen areas of practice. Rest assured that you’ll be managed and led by a team of experienced consultants at SKH. The Orthopaedic team collaborates with medical professionals from many other fields to ensure that your treatment is as comprehensive and thorough as possible.
