About

Dr Cheow Xunqi is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon and is currently the Sports Surgery Service Lead in Sengkang General Hospital Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. He graduated from the NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, Singapore, with an MBBS in 2011, and was awarded the Meritorious House Officer Award in 2012 for his outstanding performance as a House Officer. 


Dr Cheow began his specialist training in Orthopaedic Surgery in 2016, and was conferred the “Outstanding Resident Award” in 2018, in recognition of his outstanding academic and clinical performance in the Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Programme. He was appointed as Chief Resident in 2021, and completed the Singapore Chief Residency Programme in 2022. He completed his specialist training in Orthopaedic Surgery and attained the FRCSEd (Ortho) in 2022.


Passionate in both pre-graduate and postgraduate education, Dr Cheow currently serves as a Clinical Core Faculty Member for the SingHealth Postgraduate Year 1 Programme and as an Assistant Convenor for the NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine MBBS Examinations. He also holds the role of Site Chief for the SingHealth-Duke Sports & Exercise Medicine Centre in SKH.


Dr Cheow holds subspecialty interest in the field of sports injuries, arthroscopic surgeries, and shoulder and knee conditions. He has also published research articles in various peer-reviewed journals, and has presented his work at international and local conferences. Additionally, he co-authored a book chapter on the arthroscopic repair of partial-thickness shoulder rotator cuff tendon tears.
