What is Regorafenib for?

Regorafenib is a targeted medication used to treat certain advanced cancers e.g. colorectal, liver and gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST).

How should I take or use Regorafenib?

• Take Regorafenib once a day at around the same time, for 3 weeks out of a 4-week cycle. Take the exact dose that the doctor tells you to.
• Take after a light (low-fat) meal.
• Do not break or crush the tablet. Swallow the tablet whole.
  • Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you have difficulty swallowing.

What should I do if I forget to take or use Regorafenib?

If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember. Then take your next dose at the usual time. Do not take two doses to make up for the missed dose.

What precautions should I take when taking or using Regorafenib?

Inform your healthcare professional if:

• You are allergic to this medication or any of the other ingredients of this medication
• You or your partner is pregnant or planning to become pregnant
  • You should use effective birth control during treatment and for at least 2 months after stopping Regorafenib.
• You have any surgery planned
• You have any other medical conditions e.g. high blood pressure, heart problems, liver problems or bleeding problems
• You are taking any other medications, including supplements, traditional medications and herbal remedies

What food or medication should I avoid when I take or use Regorafenib?

Avoid taking grapefruit when you are taking this medication as grapefruit may interact with Regorafenib and increases the risk of side-effects.

Avoid traditional Chinese medication (TCM) or ‘jamu’ when you are on this medication.

What are some common side effects of Regorafenib?

• Palms of hands or soles of the feet may become dry, sore and have peeling
• Diarrhea, stomach discomfort
• Nausea, decreased appetite
• Mouth ulcers
• High blood pressure
• Feeling tired
• Slightly increased risk of infection
  • Maintain hygiene, avoid crowds and people with infection.
• Voice change or hoarseness

What are some rare but serious side effects that I need to seek medical advice immediately?

• Painful blistering or swelling of hands or feet
• Signs of unusual bleeding e.g. unexplained bruises or black, sticky stools
• Chest pain or tightness, shortness of breath
• Yellowing of the skin or eye, or dark tea-coloured urine
• Severe abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting
• Fever of 38° C or higher
• Severe headache, giddiness, confusion or change in vision

The symptoms of a drug allergy include one or more of the following:

• Swollen face/eyes/lips/tongue
• Difficulty in breathing
• Itchy skin rashes over your whole body

If you experience any of these symptoms, you should stop your medication and see your healthcare professional immediately.

How should I store Regorafenib?

Store in a cool and dry place, away from direct sunlight. Keep this medication away from children.

How do I throw away Regorafenib safely?

Pack Regorafenib into a bag and bring it back to the pharmacy where you received the medication from.
