Requirements

  • Aged 16 years and above (subject to individual programme requirements)
  • Able to commit for at least 12 volunteering hours in a yearly
  • Willing to learn new skills and acquire new experiences
  • Willing to abide by mandatory vaccination requirements:
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps and Rubella)
    • Tdap (Tetanus, Diphtheria and Pertussis)
    • Varicella (Chicken Pox) / Immunity against Chicken Pox

All volunteers have to fulfill above criteria before deployment.

Patient Care Companion
Patient Care Companion (2)

As a Patient Care Companion volunteer, you will play a vital role in enhancing the hospital experience for our patients. This meaningful programme allows you to provide emotional support during their hospital stay whilst supporting our healthcare team in delivering quality care, helping to enhance our patient's well-being and recovery journey.

Your role as a Patient Care Companion involves:

  • Assist to feed patients (selected patients not on therapeutic diet consistency)
  • Serve meals and clear food trays
  • Attend to call bells
  • Engage and talk to patients
  • Serve patient milo/biscuit/meals
  • Assist Health Care Assistants with topping of supplies in clinical area

Commitment

Monday - Sunday (any 2 hours slot)

Preferred timings

  • Breakfast: 8.00am
  • Lunch: 11.30am
  • Dinner: 5.00pm

Night Watcher

Join our dedicated team of Night Watchers and play a vital role in ensuring patient safety during the quiet hours. Our Night Watcher Programme supports healthcare staff in providing enhanced care and supervision for patients during the night shift, particularly those who may be at risk of falls or confusion.

Your role as a Night Watcher involves:

  • Maintain a watchful presence in hospital wards during night hours especially for fall risk patients attempting to get out of bed
  • Provide companionship to patients who may feel anxious or restless
  • Support nurses by observing patients and alerting them to any concerns
  • Help create a calm and reassuring environment for better rest

Commitment

Monday to Sunday

  • 9 pm - 12 am
  • 4 am - 7 am

Telehealth

Join our Telehealth Volunteer Programme and play a crucial role in supporting patients with their virtual consultations at our partnered centres. Our volunteers help bridge the digital gap and assist patients in connecting with healthcare providers through telehealth services.

Your role as a Telehealth Volunteer involves:

  • Assisting the patient to use Zoom to consult the nurse
  • Taking and sharing the vital signs of patients with the nurses (i.e., temperature, oxygen level, sugar level, weight, blood pressure etc)
  • Provide basic technical support to ensure smooth virtual sessions
  • Help create a comfortable environment for patients during their virtual consultations

Radiology Ambassador

As a Radiology Ambassador, you'll play an important role in supporting patients through their imaging appointments. Your warm presence and attentive support help transform what could be an anxious experience into a more comfortable one for patients undergoing various imaging procedures. With the radiology clinic's network of interconnected departments and walkways, you'll be their trusted navigator, helping them find their way to their destinations with ease and confidence.

Some of the help you can offer includes the following:

  • Welcome and assist patients arriving at the radiology clinic
  • Navigate patients through the complex clinic layout to their respective scan areas (CT, MRI, X-ray)
  • Guide patients to changing rooms and help store belongings, with special assistance for wheelchair users
  • Engage with patients to help them feel comfortable while waiting
  • Monitor and accompany patients who require fall precautions
  • Remind patients to wait for nurses to remove their IV after scans, as this is often forgotten
  • Encourage completion of feedback forms to help improve our services

Health Buddy

This exciting opportunity allows you to guide others in using technology that makes their healthcare journey smoother and more convenient. If you enjoy helping others and have a knack for explaining technology in simple terms, this role is perfect for you!

Your role as a Health Buddy Ambassador involves:

  • Introducing patients and their next-of-kin to the convenient features of the Health Buddy app, including easy payment options and real-time queue tracking
  • Promoting SKH's innovative Teleconsultation services to enhance healthcare accessibility
  • Guiding  patients and their families in using the Zoom app for virtual consultations

Be part of our welcoming team that makes every patient's journey smoother! As an SO2 Care Guide, you'll be the friendly face that helps patients and their families navigate their clinic visit with confidence. If you enjoy interacting with people and making their day better through simple yet meaningful gestures, this role offers you the perfect opportunity to make a difference!

As an SO2 Care Guide in our Surgery On 2 clinic, you'll help by:

  • Providing wayfinding assistance to patients and their loved ones
  • Guiding patients through self-registration at our 1Q kiosks
  • Directing Singapore National Eye Centre (SNEC) patients through the correct registration process, ensuring a seamless experience

Monday - Friday
2 shifts:

  • 8am - 10am
  • 12pm - 2pm

Arts can play a powerful role in healing. As an Arts in Healing volunteer, you'll help create moments where patients can find joy and respite through creative engagement. When patients immerse themselves in musical performances or arts and crafts activities, they often experience welcome relief from their health concerns, even if just for a while.

Some of the help you can offer includes the following:

  • Performing at SKH Community Heart (12pm-1pm)
  • Performing in the wards (3pm-4pm)
  • Assisting to wheel patients for performances/arts activities

Be part of something bigger!

Join us as an Event Volunteer to support both community and internal events. As a volunteer, you'll help ensure smooth event operations whilst connecting with residents and staff on an ad-hoc basis. If you enjoy meeting people and contributing to meaningful initiatives, we'd love to have you on board!

As an Event Volunteer, you'll contribute by:

  • Creating a welcoming environment through ushering and ensuring smooth crowd flow
  • Supporting residents with digital engagement, including QR code scanning and survey completion
  • Sharing information about Community Health Programmes (CHPs) to help residents stay healthy and informed

FAQs

Q:If I have school or travel commitments that affect my availability during certain periods, can I still join as a volunteer?

Of course! We understand that volunteers have their own commitments and we offer flexible volunteering arrangements, however, we highly encourage our volunteers to serve at least 12 hours a year.


Q: I do not wish to receive the mandatory vaccinations, can I still volunteer

Vaccinations are required to ensure the safety of our volunteers, patients and staff. However, if you have medical reasons preventing vaccination, please inform us and provide an official doctor's note, and we will conduct an evaluation on a case-by-case basis.
