SKH Doctor on Stevens-Johnson Syndrome

Dr Cao Taige, Consultant, Dermatology Service, SKH, shared his experience with a Stevens-Johnson Syndrome case, a rare but potentially fatal skin condition. Through a case study of a 26-year-old patient who developed the condition after taking armodafinil (an unapproved stimulant), Dr Cao highlighted key warning signs including widespread rashes and fever, and shared that triggers include antibiotics, anticonvulsants, and gout medication. He highlighted the importance of not taking unauthorised medications and being upfront with doctors about all medication use for proper diagnosis and treatment.
