CANDIDA AURIS SCREENING (CULTURE)

2 eSwab^TM per request
1) Nasal swab – Rotate 5 times in each nostril
2) Axilla and groin – Swipe 5 times back and forth for both axillae and both groins

Specimen should reach the Microbiology Laboratory as soon as possible, at room temperature.

For Infection Control Screening – Culture 

Negative:
“No Candida auris isolated.”

Positive:
“Positive for Candida auris.” 

7 – 10 days

Daily (incl. Sundays and Public Holidays)

A negative result does not rule out the presence of Candida auris because the organism may be present at levels below the limit of detection for this assay.
