Dermatology

Synonym(s):

As the body’s largest organ, the skin plays a crucial role in our overall well-being, acting as the first line of defence against pathogens, disease and injury. Healthy skin is a significant indicator of overall health, and maintaining it can greatly enhance your quality of life.

The Dermatology Department at Sengkang General Hospital provides comprehensive outpatient and inpatient services for the diagnosis and management of dermatological conditions affecting people of all ages. Our team of dermatologists get to the source of skin problems, delivering effective treatments that provide much-needed relief. We regularly care for people with difficult-to-treat problems, such as acne, autoimmune skin diseases, inflammatory skin diseases, skin cancers, hair loss and nail problems. We also offer a range of minimally invasive aesthetic procedures to improve skin appearance.

At Sengkang General Hospital, you receive personalised care that is tailored to your needs. Our team of dermatologists prevent, diagnose and treat a wide range of problems, and will work closely with patients to decide on the best course of treatment.

Our Clinical Services

Medical Dermatology

The department evaluates and treats a wide variety of acute skin disorders such as skin infections and allergies; as well as a range of chronic skin disorders such as atopic eczema, psoriasis, chronic urticaria, acne, bullous pemphigoid and hair loss.

Surgical Dermatology

The department evaluates and offers surgical treatments for benign skin growths such as warts, tags, cysts; as well as a range of cancerous skin problems such as basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma and Bowen's disease. Among the specialised procedures we perform is Mohs micrographic surgery, a gold standard treatment for high risk non-melanoma skin cancers such as basal cell and squamous cell carcinomas. This technique is particularly beneficial in anatomically critical areas where maximum skin conservation is necessary, such as on the nose, and around the eyes and mouth. Additionally, skin cancer screening is also offered to patients at risk of developing skin cancer.

Aesthetic Dermatology

The department evaluates and treats common cosmetic skin conditions such as acne scars, wrinkles, sun spots, age spots and melasma using a variety of advanced techniques. Our therapeutic arsenal includes lasers, intense pulsed light, injectables, and chemical peels. These treatments are carefully tailored to effectively address specific cosmetic concerns and enhance the skin's appearance to achieve the best possible results for each individual patient.

Paediatric Dermatology

Specialists from KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital run an outpatient paediatric dermatology service catering to children and adolescents aged 17 years and below.

Our Care Team

Our team of dermatologists takes extra steps to accurately diagnose the problem, ensuring you receive the treatments that are best for your needs.

Your care starts with a detailed evaluation from one of dermatologists. We take time to get to know you, which may include asking questions about your medical history and performing a thorough skin exam. For complex problems, we may take a tissue sample (biopsy). Our dermatologists also work in direct collaboration with plastic surgeons and other medical professionals at SKH, ensuring that your diagnosis and treatment is as thorough and holistic as possible.

Announcements Sengkang General Hospital Holds Men's Health Forum to Champion Preventative Care and Wellbeing Among Men in Singapore On 30 August 2025, SKH held a Men's Health Public Forum at Suntec Convention Centre which drew nearly 300 participants. The forum featured expert talks, panel discussions, physiotherapist-led exercises, and live Q&As covering colorectal cancer, heart and liver wellness, weight management, mobility, erectile dysfunction, mental health, and other topics. SKH’s Community Health Fair survey findings last year revealed that while 94% of men valued healthy eating, only 11% exercised daily with nearly half exercising just 1-2 times weekly. These lifestyle gaps contribute to rising rates of preventable conditions including sarcopenia, fatty liver, obesity, colorectal cancer, and mental health issues. The event also launched "Man Up!", a book by Associate Professor Lee Lui Shiong, Senior Consultant and Head, Department of Urology, SKH, featuring true stories from patients and caregivers navigating health challenges.
