SKH Spine Hub

SKH Spine Hub is an integrated care programme that brings together specialists and allied health professionals from multiple disciplines to provide coordinated care for patients with spine-related conditions. We accept referrals from polyclinics, general practitioners, the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) and the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).

Conditions We Treat
The SKH Spine Hub manages a wide range of spine-related conditions, ranging from common concerns like neck and back pain, to more complex cases such as spinal nerve compression, spinal instability, infections, tumours, and traumatic injuries such as fractures.

Treatment is tailored to each patient based on condition and severity. Options span conservative therapies, including physiotherapy, acupuncture, and medication; to interventional procedures such as spinal injections and surgery, as well as open and minimally invasive techniques.

What to Expect
All patients are first seen at our Spine Triage and Rehab (STAR) Clinic by physiotherapists skilled in spinal disorders. A thorough assessment covering medical history and a detailed physical examination will be carried out.

As part of our multidisciplinary approach, patients will then be directed to the most suitable specialist for their condition. This may include a:
- Spine surgeon, if surgical evaluation is required
- Rehabilitation medicine specialist, for non-surgical management
- Physiotherapist, for ongoing conservative care

Our STAR Physiotherapists
Our physiotherapists hold postgraduate training in musculoskeletal physiotherapy and practise at a specialist level. Skilled in identifying symptoms and determining when further investigation is needed, they work closely with spine surgeons and rehabilitation specialists to ensure each patient is referred promptly to the right care, without unnecessary delay.

At SKH, STAR physiotherapists can:
- Order investigations, including X-ray, CT and MRI scans
- Start treatment from the first visit
- Prescribe medications
