Dr Palaniappan is a Senior Consultant in the Urology Service, Department of General Surgery, Sengkang General Hospital. He graduated from St George's, University of London with a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) in 2006.

He completed his intercollegiate Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons (MRCS) in 2010. Then he went on become an advanced surgical trainee in Urology, completed the exams and joined the Academy of Medicine, Singapore as a Fellow. After topping the cohort, he also became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (Glasgow).
