Dr Ian is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in orthopaedic sports surgery, with a focus on minimally invasive and arthroscopic surgery (keyhole surgery) of the shoulder, elbow, hip and knee.
He graduated from National University of Singapore (NUS) in 2012. After completing Orthopaedic Residency training under the National Healthcare Group (NHG), he obtained the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh (Orthopaedic Surgery) in 2022.
To further advance his subspeciality expertise, Dr Ian completed three international fellowships. He first undertook an AO Trauma Fellowship in Shoulder and Elbow surgery under the mentorship of renowned surgeon Prof Ralph Hertel in Bern, Switzerland.
He subsequently completed two fellowships in Western Australia. The first was the Hip, Shoulder, Knee Arthroscopy and Hip Preservation Fellowship under the supervision of Mr Tao Shan Lim where he developed advanced expertise in hip arthroscopy and hip preservation surgery. He then completed the prestigious Perth Sports Surgery Fellowship, a highly competitive program accredited by ISAKOS (International Society of Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery and Orthopaedic Sports Medicine) and ISHA (International Society for Hip Arthroscopy) under the supervision of A/Prof Peter D’Alessandro. During his fellowship training, Dr Ian gained extensive experience in a high-volume sports surgery and upper limb practice, managing complex sports injuries, sports trauma, and elite athletes.
