SKH does not have inpatient Paediatric and Obstetrics & Gynaecology (O&G) facilities.
Patients under 16 years old and/or having O&G conditions may be transferred to KK Women's and Children's Hospital (KKWCH) for further treatment, after stabilisation.

SKH does not have emergency eye services.
Patients requiring urgent eye assessment may be transferred to Changi General Hospital (CGH) for further treatment, after stabilisation.

When do I visit the Emergency Department (ED)?

Visit our ED only when you are having medical emergency.

Medical emergencies are sudden and serious illnesses and injuries that require immediate treatment.

These include (but are not limited to):

  • Breathing difficulties (e.g. shortness of breath / choking)
  • Sudden and severe pain, including chest pain
  • Fainting
  • Severe bleeding
  • Sudden dizziness, weakness, unsteady gait, numbness or vision changes
  • Change in mental state (e.g. sudden confusion / disorientation / difficulty arousing)
  • Coughing up or vomiting of blood
  • Persistent vomiting or diarrhea with inability to tolerate oral feeds
  • Injuries to the head or spine
  • Major limb fractures / dislocations
  • Drug overdose or poisoning
  • Traffic or worksite accidents

In the event of an emergency, please proceed to the nearest emergency department or call 995 for an ambulance.

Please visit the General Practitioner (GP) or Polyclinincs for non-emergency medical conditions (eg: cough, runny nose or simple sprains)

What are the ED Charges?

EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT ATTENDANCE FEES

Emergency Department Attendance Fee comprises:

  • Doctor's consultation, nursing care & treatmentBasic investigation (e.g. urine test, blood sugar test, ECG)
  • Basic treatment (e.g. plaster cast, simple suturing & wound dressing)
  • Standard medication (maximum one week's supply upon discharge)

Attendance fee excludes specialised investigation/diagnostic services (e.g. laboratory tests, MRI, CT scans), non-standard medications, standard medications exceeding one week's supply upon discharge.

  1. Fees quoted are effective from 1 August 2024 and are subjected to change without notice.
  2. COVID-19 tests (ART and PCR) are not part of Emergency Department Attendance Fee and will be charged separately.
  3. Medisave is not claimable for ED bill. For more information on using Medisave for outpatient treatments, visit here.

The Institution shall be entitled at its discretion to offset any credit balance under the relevant bill against any liability of the patient in respect of any other bill(s) before making a refund.

TRIAGE FEES

At triage, our nurses would have assessed the severity of your condition and taken your vitals. If you decide not to see the doctor after triage, a triage fee of $54 would be charged.

RTLS LOST TAG FEES

The RTLS wrist tag helps us to better manage your care and is deactivated when it leaves the hospital campus. If you do not return your wrist tag, there will be a charge of $120.

Can I visit my loved ones in ED?

For ED visits and outpatient appointments:

  • Patients may continue to be accompanied by ONE (1) person.

For EDTU* and inpatient visits:

  • Only two (2) visitors at the bedside at any one time, during visiting hours. 
  • Visitors and caregivers should refrain from visiting if they are feeling unwell.
  • Patients with suspected or confirmed Emerging Infectious Diseases (e.g. Ebola, MERS) will not be allowed visitors.
  • Children below 12 years old are not allowed to visit, except on an exceptional basis.
  • Our visiting hours are 11.00am to 2.00pm and 5.00pm to 8.30pm.
