Dr Kong San Choon graduated from Newcastle University, Newcastle Upon Tyne, United Kingdom with a Bachelor in Medicine, Bachelor in Surgery (MBBS). He was inducted as a Member of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland {MRCP(Ire)} in 1999. Awarded the Health Manpower Development Plan (HMDP) Fellowship, Dr Kong completed his Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS) training in St Thomas' Hospital, London, in 2018.
Dr Kong is active in medical research. He was awarded his Doctorate in Medicine, United Kingdom, in 2008 after a 2 year period in translational medical research using molecular techniques in Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD).
Dr Kong is trained in small intestinal diseases and was responsible for the provision of small intestinal services for the West of Scotland, United Kingdom, for a period of time.
His area of interests are ERCP, IBD, EUS, capsule endoscopy and small intestinal enteroscopy (Spirus and power Spiral enteroscopy, single and double balloon enteroscopy).
