Department of Psychiatry

The Department of Psychiatry at Sengkang General Hospital helps patients with psychiatric conditions. Backed by a multidisciplinary team comprising psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, social workers and occupational therapists, the department offers a full range of speciality services to meet the individual needs of patients. The department assesses and manages a broad spectrum of psychiatric conditions in both the inpatient and outpatient settings and are committed to providing the latest treatment for conditions like depression and anxiety disorders.  

The Department has a dedicated team of psychiatrists looking into the physical, psychological and social needs of the patient. They also work closely with community partners like family doctors and social service organisations to elevate mental health services in this region so that patients can get psychiatric care where it is most appropriate and convenient.

Our Clinical Services

The Department of Psychiatry provides the following subspecialty services:

  • Liaison Psychiatry - Consultation service for patients with medical and/or surgical conditions that may be facing emotional issues or psychiatric disorders. 
  • General Psychiatry - Diagnosis and treatment of general psychiatric disorders like depression and anxiety disorders.
  • Old Age Psychiatry - Mental health care tailored for older people.


Mind and Body Integration Clinic

The Mind and Body Integration Clinic sees patients referred by doctors from the Department of General Medicine and General Surgery to improve patients' mental fitness so that other medical conditions can be optimised. The clinic evaluates and treats psychological stress and anxiety disorders. The department aims to create a healthy alliance between the mind and body, enabling patients to manage any psychological stress and anxiety disorders and create a healthy lifestyle. 

Geriatric Psychiatry Clinic

This clinic provides specialist assessment and treatment for elderly with mental health care needs. Supported by a multidisciplinary team including psychologists and occupational therapists, we provide holistic care for the older adult to maintain their well-being and function in the community. 



With its comprehensive range of medical specialties and broad patient base, SKH offers a learning environment for medical students. The department provides:

  • Undergraduate and post-graduate teaching to Medical students
  • Attachments for overseas students and doctors
  • Attachment for Peer specialists
  • They are accredited to provide training for Residents in Psychiatry
