3 March 2021 - Working in bed could cause aches and pains and make it harder to fall asleep at night. According to CGH physiotherapist Ho Yue Wan, it is difficult to maintain a good posture if one is working from the bed andone should change his or her position regularly. Besides advising on the appropriate posture to take while working, she also recommended stretching exercises.
Dr Tham Keng Seng, Associate Consultant, Department of Psychological Medicine, CGH, highlighted that working from the bed could programme the brain to perceive it as a stressful environment, which could cause insomnia.
Janet Chang, Senior Clinical Psychologist, CGH added that the bed is a cue for restful sleep for most people, which is weakened if one is working from the bed.
