Your doctor has determined how often you or your child should take this medication. To be effective, doses of Nitrofurantoin should be taken at intervals as far apart as possible and evenly spaced. For example, if your doctor tells you to administer it four times a day, it is best to take one dose every six hours. However, if you or your child cannot take it at recommended time, you or your child may still take it at evenly spaced intervals between the time you or your child wake up in the morning and the time you or your child go to bed at night (for example, at 7am, noon, 5pm and 10pm).
Nitrofurantoin tablets should be taken with meals or with a full glass of milk or water.
Administer the missed dose as soon as you remember it. Take any remaining doses for that day at evenly spaced intervals.
