When do I visit the ED?

SKH does not have inpatient Paediatric and Obstetrics & Gynaecology (O&G) facilities.

Patients under 16 years old and/or having O&G conditions may be transferred to KK Women's and Children's Hospital (KKWCH) for further treatment, after stabilisation.

SKH does not have emergency eye services.

Patients requiring urgent eye assessment may be transferred to Changi General Hospital (CGH) for further treatment, after stabilisation.

Visit our ED only when you are having medical emergency.

Medical emergencies are sudden and serious illnesses and injuries that require immediate treatment.

These include (but are not limited to):

Breathing difficulties (e.g. shortness of breath / choking)
Sudden and severe pain, including chest pain
Fainting
Severe bleeding
Sudden dizziness, weakness, unsteady gait, numbness or - vision changes
Change in mental state (e.g. sudden confusion / disorientation / difficulty arousing)
Coughing up or vomiting of blood
Persistent vomiting or diarrhea with inability to tolerate oral feeds
Injuries to the head or spine
Major limb fractures / dislocations
Drug overdose or poisoning
Traffic or worksite accidents

In the event of an emergency, please proceed to the nearest emergency department or call 995 for an ambulance.

Please visit the General Practitioner (GP) or Polyclinincs for non-emergency medical conditions (eg: cough, runny nose or simple sprains)
