Levothyroxine - Dosage and How to Use

How should Levothyroxine be used?

It is a tablet that you take by mouth, usually as a single dose in the morning on an empty stomach at least 30 minutes before the first food or beverage of the day. You may take it with half a glass of water. Supplements containing calcium or iron, antacids, milk or dairy products should be avoided within 2 to 4 hours of taking Levothyroxine. Try taking it at the same time every day to ensure that it always has the same effect. Do not discontinue or use different brands interchangeably without your doctor's knowledge.

What should I do if I miss a dose?

If you miss a dose of Levothyroxine, take it as soon as you remember. However if it is near your next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule.
