Levothyroxine - Side Effects, Precautions, and Contraindications

What side effects can Levothyroxine cause?

Some of the common side effects that may occur are:

  • Headache
  • Nervousness
  • Sweating
  • Increased appetite
  • Diarrhea
  • Weight loss
  • Insomnia

Inform your doctor if any of the following occurs:

  • Chest pain
  • Rapid or irregular heartbeat
  • Shortness of breath
  • Excessive sweating
  • Seizures
  • Allergic reactions: rash or swelling or breathing difficulty

Before taking Levothyroxine , what precautions must I follow?

  • Inform your doctor of pharmacist if you:
    • Have any other medical conditions e.g heart problems, high blood pressure
    • Are on any other medicines e.g. warfarin
